Hey there! I am so glad you’re here. For as long as I can remember, I was the person taking all the photos at family and friend gatherings. During high school, I was entrusted with the school yearbook camera and toted that thing around everywhere I went; it was heaven! I maintained my passion for beautiful photos throughout college, and even started taking professional photos of people in Birmingham, AL while I was finishing my English / Linguistics degree in hopes of becoming a teacher. When we moved to Huntsville in 2016, I realized portrait photography was my passion and built my business here.
In addition to my photography business, I also work as a project manager for J. Alexandria Creative! We are a design agency that serves small business owners with branding, website, and marketing services. In order to maintain quality for returning clients, my availability for photoshoots is limited.
I love vibrant photos as well as crisp, black and white images. I adore photos of people laughing and photos of children being children. 2017
Our family moved back to Huntsville in 2016 when our second child was born. I slowly started rebuilding my client base while being able to stay home with my two kids during the week.

My friend Jade runs a branding and web design agency. She was growing her team and needed some help with marketing and some administrative tasks, and I applied! It turned out to be a great fit and I got the job.
Like a multitasking queen, I started taking paid photography clients in Birmingham as a way to earn money while finishing my English degree at UAB with a toddler at home.

I picked up my first DSLR camera, attended my first photography training class, and began learning Photoshop at age 15.

I'm a "yes" girl. I found myself running a photography business, working part time for J. Alexandria Creative, coaching youth soccer, and I was also PTA board member for 4 years (the president for two of those!) As wonderful and fullfilling as these things were, my plate was way too full and I had to scale back my workload.
2021

I moved into a project manager role at the branding and website design agency and decided to keep Jana Grady Photography open on a reduced capacity. The work-life balance has been incredible and I get to do so many things that I love! What a win!

My husband and I LOVE working with Jana! She is great with communication and flexible with dates and times. We received our photos back very quickly, and had them printed out and hanging in our home soon after. Our session was relaxed and fun- Jana even helped cure my awkwardness in front of the camera! 🤣 We couldn’t be more pleased with the work that Jana did for and with us, and will definitely be booking with her again in the near future.

Jana is always a pleasure to work with. She is up for any challenge (like working with 2 rowdy dogs that won't sit still). Jana is the type of photographer that you feel like you can get to know very quickly and you become comfortable with her so that the pictures are truly genuine. She is flexible with ideas and visions, which you don't always find in a photographer. She has an amazing turn around time for your photos.
